FORMER PENTHOUSE PET UNLEASHES ACTING TALENT AND GETS WILD ON!
As one of the magazine's most published beauties worldwide, Alexus Winston parlays her cache into exposure of quite another kind.
It doesn't happen as often as one would think - that a model, even a supermodel, from the world of legitimate, ultra-popular men's magazines, successfully transitions to mainstream entertainment. As with many aspects of her life, former Penthouse Pet Alexus Winston is the exception to that general rule. While she's seen many women disappear from its glossy pages and drift into obscurity, Winston, as one of the magazine's most published beauties worldwide since her 1997 debut - "and by far the most popular," according to Penthouse publisher Bob Guccione, -- isn't about to go quietly into that good night after the camera's last click. No way.
Multi-international covergirl Winston has already parlayed her cache into exposure of quite another kind as a special correspondent in the highly rated E! Entertainment Television show, Wild On!
"They keep asking me to return to cover more events, so I must be doing something right," laughs the sunny, upbeat TV personality and burgeoning actress who grew up in the private resort community of Spring Valley Lake, in the High Desert town of Victorville, CA.
So far, Winston has gotten "wild on" in two segments where she's reported from New York City's famed Webster Hall nightclub, and recently jetted off, crew in tow, to Costa Rica in search of the exotic locale's sizzling nightlife.
Although she has already starred in a promising TV pilot that was filmed in New York (a confidentiality agreement precludes her from talking about it just yet), Winston, like all serious actors, remains relentless in further refining her craft, dedicating countless hours each week to acting classes as she explores the art's many genres and nuances. Improv Theater classes led Winston to host a live videotaped showcase at the Improv in Hollywood.
In addition to the TV pilot and her Wild On! assignments, Winston is considering several movie scripts that have crossed her desk, which isn't surprising since she already possesses name-brand appeal. What is surprising, however, is that her transition from favorite Pet to TV personality has occurred without the clout of an agent or manager.
Winston says she's accomplishing this odds-defying feat through "networking, acting classes, getting a p.r. firm, and busting my butt," she laughs. "I'm making the transition now . It's not something I can say I've done ; I'm in the middle of doing it."
Winston no longer poses for Penthouse , although her image often appears in a large number of foreign editions as pre-existing, purchased content, but attributes her unwavering popularity to her longevity on the promotional circuit.
"No one else has worked for Penthouse in this capacity for as long as I have," Winston reasons of her status as the publication's most popular. As for stepping off its pages and stepping up her entertainment endeavors, she states, "I posed for Penthouse , I'm happy about it, and now I am moving on in my acting career, spokesmodeling, and developing other talents."
Winston has graced the cover of Perfection magazine and appeared on many calendars including Miller Beer , and the prestigious Bowman Motors calendar. " Bowman Motors is a privately-owned car collection," Winston explains, "and out of all the Pets and Playmates who posed for it, I was selected for the cover, along with a rare Ferrari of which only two were built. It was cool - a $4 million car."
Winston has also been the spokesmodel in an international ad campaign for a GNC- and Great Earth Vitamins-distributed health supplement, and as a result, appeared in Muscle & Fitness , Men's Fitness and many others. "I traveled around the country for three years as the spokesmodel for Pinnacle Horny Goatweed ," Winston says excitedly. And who hasn't heard of Horny Goatweed ?
A consummate professional with dynamic talent, don't be surprised when the name 'Alexus Winston' pops on the silver screen. |
